PAST EVENTS
Many of our volunteers have worked twenty years or more on various civic and community events and projects here in Forsyth County. The following are are some of these events.

2018 Oktoberfest
Our 2018 Oktoberfest was hosted by Forsyth Friends' corporate partner, Beaver Toyota, at their Buford Highway facility. It was a great evening with lots of German cuisine and oompah music as well as auctions and raffles - net proceeds of this event benefited CASA of Forsyth County.
However, the evening did turn out a little cool so the 2019 event has been scheduled for an earlier date in hopes of ensuring great weather.

Armed Forces Day Barbeque
In May 2019, we helped our local American Legion Post with a barbeque at Beaver Toyota to honor our Veterans and their families as well as to raise funds for America Legion veteran programs and youth activities.

The mission of Family Promise of Forsyth County is to empower homeless families to gain sustainable independence. We worked with Cumming First United Methodist Church to raise more than $31,000 in funding for Family Promise and their mission by assisting in their giant garage sale which was held at the Cumming First United Methodist Church on August 17-18, 2018.
Spotlight on Fashion With a Flair
This wonderful event with a Hollywood theme was held August 11, 2018 to benefit the Forsyth County Special Olympics and featured VERY special local stars - some of our Special Olympics athletes - modeling clothing from our local Belk store. Probably even more important than raising money for this organization was the opportunity to give these wonderful young people a place to "strut their stuff." They were amazing!
This was so well received that we hope to do it again.

Comedy Night
Our first event under the Forsyth Friends' umbrella was our July 13 "Comedy Night" which featured a wonderful local comedian, Marvin Lee. Marvin had us rolling in the aisles with his routine called "The Other Side's Playbook," discussing how men and women manage to get on each others nerves - it was "He said, she said and the truth," with lots of laughs from all.
The evening was such a success that we hope to make Comedy Night a recurring, possible, quarterly event. Marvin has promised to return for another evening but we plan to feature other comedians as well.
To Benefit the American Cancer Society
Our last fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society was the Mardi Gras Bash held at the Lanier Conference Center in 2016. The event was catered by Chef Kern, great Dixieland music was provided by "8Up With Dixie" and Marvin Lee provided the comedy for the evening.

Margueritas With a Mission at Windermere 2010-11

Oktoberfest at Reid's Barn 2007-2009

In 2014 and 2015, we presented the "Redneck Bash" featuring Jeff Foxworthy and emceed by Ernie Johnson, Jr.
We organized many golf tournaments to benefit the American Cancer Society - beginning in the late 1990s and ending with the Ernie Johnson Memorial Golf Tournaments from 2012 through 2014.
